spatial study between sounds & voice

in collaboration with kiyu nishida

spatial study between sounds & voice is a live, audience interactive piece for an ambisonic environment.

randomly chosen users from the audience determine where the voice from anina rubin, performing on stage, is located in space.

the audience, which are all users during the concert, connect themselves with their devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop) via a web-app to a local established wifi-network. a navigation map accessible via the web-app allows the user to determine the exact position of the voice in “space”, within a higher order ambisonics set-up.

for the show at zkm in 2018 with the song let them burn, 2 random users are chosen to “conduct” the location of the voice, and after 30 seconds 2 new users are chosen randomly.
