The Opensourcepraying Speaker
The Opensourcepraying Speaker is a talking sphere made of glass that recites a prayer in several languages. The prayer has an intention for the machining world, as well as for human beings. The project deals with the possibilities and questions how a conscious machine would or could pray, or how a machine could experience a higher consciousness, i.e. a oneness with all-that-is.
Completion does not exist by itself for human beings in bodies. Only a second component reveal the wholeness of what is. Whether a symbiosis in natural spheres (mushroom & tree, bee & flower, woman & man, etc) take place, or within two entities (eyes & light, ears & sound, body & mind, question & answer in a mono/dialogue, etc), one part only exists because the other part reflects the presence to its source.

The speaker interacts with people passing by via an ultrasonic sensor: the closer one gets to the speaker, the louder it speaks. The further one distances oneself from the speaker, the quieter it becomes. in doing so, the interaction with people reflects the paradox of the habit of seeing and wanting to experience the world in fragments rather than as one unit.
The praying machine was made in glass. Being transparent, the material highlights the fact that consciousness is not hiding anything nor creating an illusions of a drag.

tools, machines and makers
A creation is always a reproduction of a prior situation or existing system or object. Merely the shape or shell is being gathered together within a new perspective. When a tool, machine or AI system is generated, any prior thought, system of belief or conclusion of its maker’s mind is reproduced one way or another. Yet, it often needs a child, a machine or an entire society to hold a mirror in front of the maker’s eyes that this one can see what it actually created.

TOOLS HAVE THREE FUNCTIONS:
1 TO MAKE SOMETHING
2 TO THEREBY CHANGE THE ENVIRONMENT
3 TO CHANGE THE PEOPLE WHO USE THEM
THE FIRST FUNCTION IS INTENDED, THE SECOND AND THIRD ARE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OF THE FIRST
